Fashion styling is essential to good photo session work. The concept of the photo shoot should be a blend of hairstyling, makeup and fashion styling to create the artistic point of view of the images. Fashion Stylists are free- lance professionals who gather the clothes, accessories, props and combines them all together to create the mood and style of the photographs. A fashion stylist also makes sure the clothes look good on the models as they move and pose. In the production of a photo shoot someone must be responsible for the fashion styling.

Most of the time, professional fashion stylists rent clothing and props for photo shoots. Generally, to borrow items from boutiques and designers (without a fee attached) , one must guarantee editorial coverage in a magazine (with credits listed). Professional stylists build relationships with stores and designers so it is desirable to include a rmoney in the budget for hiring a fashion stylist. But, many times the client cannot find an available or affordable stylist in their area. Thus, they may need to gather the fashion clothes and accessories themselves.
